Human Again

I hid behind lies
Buried myself
Pushed way down to escape the pain

I faked the smile
Hardened my heart
Denied love that came my way

I forgot how to feel
How to love
Pushed away everyone

I’d hung my head and given up
Convinced I was useless and irrelevant

Then you came like a rushing wind

Cleansed my soul deep within

Carried me away to face the day

Now I’m learning to be human again

I know I’m lost
I’ve strayed too far
I’m seeking to find you wherever you are

I look to you
You’re the one I need
I lift my head and cry out to you

Oh come, sweet spirit, come

Teach me to be human again
