My First Entry

Hello everyone!

This is my first entry of, what I hope, is many. I am in the process of publishing a book. So far, it is very frustrating. Writing the story was a piece of cake. They always say “write what you know”. And that is what I did. The story is of a young boy whose biological mother abandons him. The little boy finds himself alone and wandering through life hopeless, until one day a man and woman take him into their home and adopt him. This story is a depiction of my son’s life. Although it is sad in the beginning it has a very happy ending……full of hope and a future.

The frustrating part is getting the book printed. I have been offered a book deal (that was bogus). I’ve looked into self-publishing and it costs an arm and a leg. Now, I’m looking into other options……

So, if you know anyone who wants to promote a great book, let me know. I look forward to starting this process and seeing the finished product. 🙂

  1. Been there and done that. Hope it works out for you. Went through the editing process twice paid all the fees. Supposedly they were going to try and market it. Went on for about 4-5 months. Nothing. I really hope it works. Have already written many. I just tried to market one. I did have poems published in the poetry anthalogy book but that was in high school…. a looooong time ago! I finally just gave up. It seems they all want your money… and like everything else it is all who you know.

    1. I agree. The process is really tedious, which is why I will most likely self-publish. I just believe in this project so much and I feel the message to children who’ve been adopted, whether through foster care or traditional adoption, is so strong and positive. I hope to market this project to DHS and adoption agencies…eventually. 🙂

  2. Another Dittmer blogging? Uh oh.

You can self-publish through Amazon for free if you do all the work yourself. It IS a lot of work, but you CAN get through it with persistence. I know, that’s easy for me to say, now that my kids are grown and I’m retired. 😛
